ROHIT SACHDEV

Founder / Managing Director

 

Rohit Sachdev leads Soho Hospitality’s food and beverage, hospitality and interior design business and develops the company’s strategic vision.

 

A graduate of the Stern School of Business at New York University, Rohit’s passion for the hospitality business was sparked when he walked into the Royalton hotel, one of the first boutique hotels in New York. Conceptualized by the hotel mogul Ian Schrager with designer Philippe Starck in 1988, the Royalton changed the landscape of the hospitality business with its compelling interior design and emphasis on lobby socializing.

 

Rohit’s interests in food and beverage were also kindled in New York City, where he dined in the restaurants of Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Mario Batali, Danny Mayer, Masaharu Morimoto, Stephen Starr and Keith McNally. These experiences served as a catalyst and inspiration for what Rohit strives to achieve at Soho Hospitality today.

 

Hotel Development

 

Rohit’s foray into the hospitality business began in 2004, when he led the development of the 163-room Fraser Suites Sukhumvit project in Bangkok. Since its opening in November 2007, the property has become recognized as one of the best serviced apartments in Thailand and has consistently outperformed its competitors in terms of ARR and occupancy.

 

In September 2011, Fraser Suites Sukhumvit won a World Travel Award as Thailand’s Leading Serviced Apartment.

 

While developing the Fraser Suites Sukhumvit property, Rohit founded Sachdev O’Dell in 2004. Sachdev O’Dell quickly established itself as one of the top architecture and design firms in Bangkok, with projects for Accor, Starwood, Intercontinental Hotels Group, Hilton Hotels, Best Western, Ascott International, Oakwood and Frasers Hospitality.

 

Sachdev O’Dell received the Best Interior Designer Award at the 2007 Thailand Property Awards. The firm designed more than 5,000 hotel rooms between 2004 and 2010. Rohit was featured in the Real Estate 100 list by the Thailand Property Report in 2008.

 

Restaurant Projects

 

Rohit Sachdev divested from Sachdev O’Dell In 2010 and began an interior design and food and beverage consulting practice within Soho Hospitality. Soho Hospitality has quickly established itself as a niche player in the market by offering interior design and food and beverage consulting services with a unique development approach.

 

In 2012, Soho Hospitality developed and opened Above Eleven in Bangkok, the first food and beverage project wholly owned and operated by the company. Soho Hospitality then launched Gramercy Park in December 2013, Charcoal Tandoor Grill & Mixology in November 2014 and Havana Social in October 2015

 

Rohit is regularly invited to participate in panels at key real estate conferences and seminars across the region.

JENNA MADDEN

Senior Interior Designer

 

An Australian national, Jenna studied hotel management at Les Roches in Switzerland. She graduated in 2009 with a bachelor of business administration in hotel management and marketing.

 

Following several years in the hospitality industry, she found her true calling as an interior designer and completed an advanced diploma in interior design at CATC Design College in Brisbane, Australia.

 

After eight years living, studying, working and drawing inspiration from across the globe, Jenna settled in Bangkok and joined award-winning design firm dwp, where she worked as lead designer on international projects such as Ibis Styles Chungmuro and Gangnam in Seoul, Ibis Styles Khao San Road, the Grand Centara Doha and Ronnefeldt Tea Lounge in Gaysorn Plaza.

 

Jenna joined Soho Hospitality in early 2015. She brings with her valuable training and experience in interior design, and she is helping drive the growth and expansion of Soho Hospitality’s F&B and hotel design portfolios.

PISSAWAN SRISAKUL

Senior Interior Designer

 

Pissawan Srisakul is a senior interior designer at Soho Hospitality. Pissawan comes with more than 11 years of hospitality interior design experience. She graduated from King Mongkut Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in interior architecture.

 

After graduating, Pissawan started working for the design team of Banyan Tree Resorts & Hotels on projects such as the Banyan Tree Resort Laguna Beach Phuket, Banyan Tree Bangkok (including two F&B outlets and one spa), Dusit Laguna Beach Phuket, Sheraton Grande Laguna Beach Phuket and the Banyan Tree Resort Hue in Vietnam.

 

Following her venture with Banyan Tree, Pissawan joined Bangkok-based design studio Stem Design. At Stem Design, she led the design team for several hotel, commercial and residential projects.

 

Pissawan joined Soho Hospitality in early 2013, where she is a leader in creating captivating interior design concepts.

PHILIPP WEIGEL

Business Development Manager

 

Philipp brings a vast amount of experience in the fields of food and beverage, international hospitality operations and management.

 

Philipp, a German native, started his professional career in 2004 with an apprenticeship at Jolesch restaurant in Berlin, home of Michelin Star Head Chef Stefan Hartmann. After his apprenticeship, Philipp worked as a commis de cuisine.

 

Inspired by his chef to get further into the industry, Philipp enrolled at the International University for Hospitality Management in The Hague in 2007, pursuing a degree in international hospitality management. Together with a group of fellow students, he ran a successful event management and catering company and also worked as a team leader at international restaurant chain Vapiano.

 

Philipp fell in love with the Asian culture while completing a management trainee-ship at the Sofitel Corporate Office ASPAC in Bangkok. He joined Soho Hospitality in August 2011 to deepen his knowledge of hospitality/F&B design and development.

 

Philipp has lived in the U.S., the Netherlands and the Caribbean and spent a vast amount of time traveling in Africa as a child before settling in Bangkok.
